Cingular Sucks!

A few days ago I got a letter from Cingular that informed me they were going to start charging a 4.99 a month fee on cell phones that use their old, analog system. I haven't used that phone in a long time so I called to cancel the account on the same day that I got the letter. Yesterday a bill show up for last month that had the 4.99 charge on it. So they made it impossible to cancel fast enough to avoid the charge. Talk about a scam. They aparantly can change the terms of the contract at any time, but if I want out, ho hey, thats a $200 early termination fee. It will take a miracle to get me back on Cingular in this lifetime.

I called Cingular to dispute the charge and they removed it. The phone jockey said, "You canceled on the 7th, and your billing cycle ends on the 7th. You shouldn't have been charged."

I already knew that, but they have a system that is setup to automatically charge people, whether it is a valid charge or not. Hmmm, smells a lot like fraud to me. Maybe a class action is brewing somewhere.
